Cookies policy

Cookies are small browser records used to remember a choice or support a site function. Ijanos uses a limited approach because an editorial website does not need extensive profiling. This page explains the names, purposes, providers and approximate lifespans relevant to the current 2026 site. You can reject optional cookies through the banner.

1. Essential choice cookie

The local browser key cookieChoice records accept or reject. It prevents the banner from returning on every page. It is stored for as long as the browser retains local site data, normally up to 12 months in our stated preference period. Removing browser storage resets the prompt.

2. Session operation

Hosting infrastructure may use short-lived session or security records to deliver pages and reduce abusive requests. These records normally expire when a session ends or within 24 hours. They are not used to create an advertising profile. Blocking them may affect basic site operation.

3. Optional analytics

If enabled in a future deployment, an analytics identifier may record broad page views, referral category and device information. It would be retained for no more than 26 months and would not be combined with contact messages for marketing. The current banner does not place optional analytics when a visitor rejects them. Consent can be withdrawn by clearing the choice and rejecting again.

4. Preferences

Preference records may remember display settings for up to 12 months. They are designed to reduce repetition, not to infer health interests. A preference is associated with a browser rather than a named profile. The site remains readable when preferences are unavailable.

5. Third parties

Embedded external content may set its own cookies if a reader chooses to follow it. Ijanos cannot control those records. Review the third party’s cookie statement before interacting with an embed or external link. We avoid unnecessary embedded trackers in ordinary articles.

6. Browser controls

Most browsers allow visitors to delete, block or limit cookies. Help menus differ by browser and device, so consult the maker’s current instructions. Blocking all storage may cause the banner to reappear. It does not erase server-side correspondence already sent through the contact route.

7. Consent

Optional cookies rely on a clear choice rather than silence. Rejecting them does not reduce access to editorial content. Essential security records may still be processed because they are needed to provide the service safely. We keep the choice record only for accountability and operation.

8. Retention review

Cookie settings are reviewed during the annual editorial and technical review each October. The 2026 review confirmed the banner, cookieChoice record and stated retention periods. If a new provider is introduced, this page will name its purpose before optional tracking is enabled. Dates will not be silently changed.

9. Contact

Questions about cookies can be sent to Jalan Merdeka Timur No. 11, Gambir, Central Jakarta 10110, Indonesia, or +62 818 2349 7561. Please describe the browser and approximate time if reporting a technical problem. Do not send passwords or medical details. We aim to reply within 30 days.

10. Change log

1 October 2026: policy reviewed for the current Ijanos publication. No advertising profile is created by the essential banner. Future revisions will include a date and a plain-language summary. The privacy policy contains related processing information.

Cookie controls in practice

The cookieChoice record is a first-party preference record rather than an advertising identifier. A value such as accept or reject allows the site to remember the visitor’s choice, but it does not contain a name, email address or article history. It is reviewed when the stated 12-month preference period ends or when the visitor clears browser storage.

Essential security records may include a temporary request token, rate-limit marker or hosting session reference. These records support page delivery and abuse prevention, normally expire within 24 hours and are not intended to follow a person between unrelated websites. Disabling all browser storage can cause the notice to reappear or may prevent a preference from being retained.

Optional analytics are not placed after a rejection. If the configuration changes, the banner will describe the category, provider, purpose and retention before consent is requested. A broad page-view measurement may use a pseudonymous identifier, but Ijanos will not intentionally combine it with a contact message to build a named advertising profile.

External media, fonts or embedded pages can sometimes set cookies under the third party’s own domain. Their names and lifespans may change without Ijanos controlling that service, so visitors should review the provider’s notice before activating embedded content. We prefer links and locally hosted presentation where that reduces unnecessary tracking.

Visitors can withdraw consent by clearing site data, reopening the preference control when available and selecting reject. Browser settings can also block or delete cookies, although settings differ between Chrome, Safari, Firefox and mobile browsers. Questions about a cookie can be sent to Jalan Merdeka Timur No. 11, Gambir, Central Jakarta 10110, Indonesia, or +62 818 2349 7561.

This page was reviewed on 1 October 2026. Any future material change to cookie categories, providers or lifespans will receive a new review date and an updated explanation.

The cookieChoice record is a first-party preference and does not contain a name, email address or message content. It normally remains available for up to 12 months, after which the banner may request a fresh choice. Clearing browser storage also removes the record and can make the notice appear again. Rejecting optional cookies does not prevent access to ordinary editorial pages.

Short-lived hosting or security records may include a temporary request token, rate-limit marker or session reference. These records normally expire at the end of a session or within 24 hours. They support delivery and abuse prevention rather than cross-site advertising. Blocking them may affect basic navigation or form delivery.

If optional analytics are deployed, the banner will identify the category and request consent before placement. A broad page-view record may be retained for no more than 26 months and configured without combining it with contact messages for marketing. Analytics consent can be withdrawn by clearing the choice and selecting rejection when the preference control is shown. Provider settings may also limit retention and advertising functions.

External embeds can set cookies under their own domains and may change their names or lifespans independently of Ijanos. Visitors should review the third party’s notice before activating such content. Some technical processing may occur outside Indonesia, subject to the provider’s safeguards and applicable requirements. This policy was reviewed on 1 October 2026.
